I grew up in close proximity to that building. Yet I never saw it then. It was built in the 1930s as the headquarters of the Alpa company, which had been operating since 1913. Yes, the legendary "francovka" (embrocation) comes from Brno! The author of the functionalist building is non other than Bohuslav Fuchs.

A group of young designers has settled in a faded warehouse. They breathe new life into old furniture. Be it hand woven seats for Ton chairs or upholstery for famour Halabala chair H269. They call themselves Krásná cimra (Beutiful room) with a spark of Brno dialect. It's wonderful to hang aroud and remember what we used to see in our childhood everywhere!
