Tired
of traditional city tours?

Do you want to explore Brno in a different digestable way?
Without the herd mentality and the copious history,
but with local warmth, authenticity and tastings?

Take a unique private tour with me to experience the essence of Brno.

I returned to my native Brno in 2019 after a 20-year break (Prague and 2,5 years in London) and did some explorative forays in the city. I gazed into the distance from hilltops and lookout towers. Hiding my breath with a torch underground. Trekking through forests and diverse recesses.
I know what means to stay in a hotel in my hometown and to hitchhike at a bus stop in the rain. With curiosity, I peeked everywhere I didn't know or where things had changed. Even the Brno people themselves started following my tips on social media—thanks to many my articles for the newspapers about Brno. Eventually, the label of a local city ambassador had been bestowed upon me.
I'm happy to make Brno an unforgettable experience for you. Don't forget that my surname means fire in Czech, so I literally burn for Brno. Read more about my life path full of twists and turns here.

Most Brno guides will take you through the main Freedom square.
We deliberately avoid this in order to discover something off the beaten track, that you wouldn't come across on your own.
My customized private tours (guided walks) are created by your wishes, but also by the unpredictable atmosphere we encounter
in the streets and common conversation. Each of them are unique.

Let's make it an experience for you!

My care

Whether you've visited Brno before or it's your first time, I'd love to show you the city from a local's perspective. In addition I can offer a life experience, own opinion and sense of humour. I tell stories and love questions, so you can learn first-hand about Czech customs.

For you

Would you enjoy going to the nooks and crannies, the holes-in-the-walls of Brno, or staying in the centre? Would you like to stroll outside or enjoy Brno through food tastings? And how much time do you have to spare? I'll ask all these questions to make it fit you.

Bespoke

Whether you only have three hours or two days, I'll tailor everything on your needs and wishes. Of course, there are also recommendations on what else not to miss so that you can enjoy your trip to the utmost.

"Filming in Brno was an incredible experience and we coudn’t have asked for better suport and cooperation. (Lenka playing important part in it) The entire crew and presenters unanimously agreeed that Brno was our favourite destination this season on Teacs Taistil." - Mairead Tucker, Irish TV producer

FAQ: Whatever you want to ask me

What does a private tour mean?

The guided walk will be tailored to your specific wishes and needs.
The walking routes mentioned on my website are only suggestions and can be altered.
You choose a suitable date, time, theme and length. (I suggest minimum of 3 hours)
Only you and your loved ones will take part in the walk.
I will be available for any further questions you may have, and will be happy to recommend what else to see or taste in Brno or its surroundings as well as tips where to stay.

Who are the guided walks suitable for?

Anyone who enjoys discovering the atmosphere of the city in a unique way rather than herding in a parade or from a Lonely Planet guide.
For those who are curious and don't just want to passively listen, but also to discuss.
For those who have no problem with walking. Depending on the chosen route, the walking distance can be from 2 km to 7 km.
As the walks do not include attractions for children, I recommend taking kids over 15 years of age.
We go in all weather conditions, as there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. Even if it rains, you can have an unforgettable experience.

If you are a meticulous person who wants dates of kings and rulers, then this ain’t for you.
I am not a certified tour guide as I'm aiming for a different benefit.

Is there a minimum and maximum number of people per walk?

There is a number of minimum and maximum group mentioned at each guided walk below.
A group of 2 upto 8 is ideal to maintain a family atmosphere and blend into the city, but small enough so we can peek in somewhere we're tempted. Some walks allow us to be up 15 persons.
I am more than happy to take care of a solo visitor, but you will pay the minimum price.

What is the price?

The price depends on the length of the route, tastings, bonus photo documentation and the size of the party. A three-hour walk for two costs from 4.000 CZK (with tastings from 5.200 CZK) all together. You will always know about the full price in advance.

How these walks differ from others?

These tours (guided walks) aren't mere sightseeing trips offered by many others private guides.
They are talor-made tours curated to fit your individual tastes and specific needs.
Rare in passionate customer aproach and in taking the tour to another level.
Created entirely unique like no other tour in Brno.
I'm not a guide, but your emphatetic partner with unusual life path, charisma, own opinion and sence for humor.

How does it all work?

It can be a family trip, date night, an unforgettable girls' or guys' weekend, a unique birthday present, or corporate teambuilding.
I will prepare an itinerary and a quote.
Once agreed, I will book the date and you will pay the amount. With bigger groups there is an advance possible with rest payable later.
From there, just wait in anticipation!

Please note: The amount is payable on booking and is non-refundable should you change your plans and cancel the walk.

Are gift certificates available?

Of course! I will be happy to issue you an electronic gift certificate that you can print and gift to a loved one. I just need the first name of the person.

Can you photo-document the walk for us?

Of coarse! If you want to have quality photos from your walk and visit to Brno without stretching your arms to take selfies, you can pay for an add-on photography service from a photojournalist. Don't hesitate to ask for it. You will receive at least 15 photos electronically by the next day.
The price for this service is 1.500 CZK.

Guided Walks Routes

other ideas limited only by your imagination

Across Old Brno to the Stone Colony
We will start in the centre at the Vegetable market to meander through Old Brno, where the city was originally founded. You'll learn about the forgotten genius or where the water vanished (no, it wasn't global warming), see Brno's Statue of Liberty, and get a glimpse into the remnants of Brno's textile empire. We'll find out which business has noodles on its walls and discover what a pastry circus looks like. We'll get a whiff of the atmosphere of a workers' colony built in a secret quarry—where my favourite view of Brno, its famous Exhibition Centre and its surrounding forests can be seen. This walk will be appreciated by those who have been to Brno and think they know everything.
Price: 2.000 CZK per person, 2 to 10 persons (groups over six please ask for a special price)
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Distance: 7 km (a little hilly)

Functionalism on a Fork
Brno is full of great functionalist architecture (I hope you are one of the lucky ones who managed to get tickets to Villa Tugendhat), but the city doesn't spare any cozy cafes and bistros either. On this stroll, we'll take a peek into both in the wider centre. We'll ascend a spiral staircase with a unique skylight in a functionalist palace and wave to the cathedral towers from an unorthodox location. You can sit in concrete chairs on the street and learn what the light bulb stands for in Brno. We'll see some full-facade paintings in the neighborhood nicknamed the Bronx (no worries, times have changed and the name for the Roma ghetto has remained) before returning to the center again. If an interesting café or bistro comes our way, we'll take a peek inside and talk about Czech cuisine. Just note, you care any of yours dining expenses.
Price: 2000 CZK per person, 2 to 10 persons ((groups over six please ask for a special price)
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Distance: 4 km

Czech Culinary Hit Parade
This walk is all about tasting the inside of the establishments with a dash of outside. If you want to experience Brno through food and want to focus on traditional Czech specialties, this is the walk for you. Whether it's open faced sandwich, sirloin with creamy sauce and dumplings, fried cheese, unique sweet pastry, as well as Czech beer, its all here. If you have a sweet tooth, a targeted sweets walk can be arranged. Or fancy a beer focus tour? Ask me for it! On a weekday plus Saturday morning, we can also wander through the famous 13th century marketplace, where farm produce is sold. Some of the farmers I know for over 25 years.
Price: 2.600 CZK per person including tastings, 2 to 6 persons
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Distance: upto 2 km

Brno Culinary Hit Parade
On this walk you will have 4 to 5 tastings in smal establishments where the owners still work by themselves. The possiblities are broad: friends of a second generation  Vietnamese, with their own way to combine Czech and Vietnamese flavours in their bistro; a young couple who just learned to cook in Japan not only to roll sushi, also prepare dishes like a Japanese grandmother; a foodtruck, who has started a culinary revolution in Brno, serving up delicious pork belly or duck in a home made bun; a chef who founded restaurants in the Middle East returned to Brno, where he serves aranchini with his excellent kimchi. To cap it off, the best ice cream in town or a craft brewery that loves the color red, music and Brno slang. Of course, I'll tell the stories behind as I interviewed them. (The places mentioned are approximate. The selection of tasting places is based on their opening hours on the day selected.)

Design in the Main Role
During this walk, we’ll spot at least a dozen establishments in the wider centre that have unusual interiors. Somewhere we‘ll taste something; somewhere we‘ll see something; somewhere we‘ll smell something. These locations can have interiors built on tin cans, cut up books or magical letters and greenery.  We‘ll check out not only bistros, but also a bookstore, a brewery, a wand shop, a backyard, a perfume shop, a sex shop (trust me, is a must to see, it's so different and gentle), a public transport stop, and a creative hub. You'll also get the behind-the-scenes stories. (The selection of venues visited may vary depending on the date chosen and their opening hours.)
Price: 2.000 CZK per person, 2 to 8 persons (groups over six please ask for a special price)
Duration: approx. 3 hours

Neighbourhood Veveří
I'll show you Veveří, the borough where I reside—a place with a unique atmosphere, neighborliness, and architecture. We'll walk through the tree-lined streets with imposing tenement houses from the beginning of the 20th century. We'll peek into creative studios, legendary pub, off-beat bistros, and the mesmerising orange tile staircase where a film was shot. You'll taste authentic Persian cuisine and see how divine the nuns' sweets taste. We'll check out a poem on a trash can by TIMO (a mysterious street art artist with hidden identity), and grab the handle of the College of Engineering with both hands to roll back down from hill Kraví hora. I'll throw in a couple more tips beyond Veveří for good measure. This walk is best to be taken during the weekdays as some premises do close on weekends.

In addition, you can enjoy a creamy hot chocolate made from freshly roasted cocoa beans—a worldwide, multi-year award winning recipe. Sip a copper distillation column and taste gin with chokeberry or lime flower. Together we will take a look into three renowned Brno manufactories where something extraordinary is created. Everywhere we will learn stories, interesting facts about the production, and of coarse, taste something delicious.

Brno Industrial
Let's delve into rich industrial history of Brno. On this walk we will discover brownfields, areas where old and often famous fabrics are patiently await their fate (demolition?) or to be rebuilt into new premises. Often they are a landmark. Be it textile industry which Brno was famous for and due the top quality produce once the city used to be called "Moravian Manchester". Be it a heating plant, a graceful brick powerstation, a dyehouse with unusual ventilation chimneys or an unique market hall of a former slaugterhaus. Some industrial places were already demolished, in other places some old halls are still standing as the last of the Mohicans to get their new purspose and new life again. Luckily some architectural gems have been lately declared as a cultural monument what gives them protection.

Taste of Christmas in Brno
Brno was chosen by the European Parliament as the European Capital of Christmas for 2024 and it would be pitty to miss it! During this tour I'll show you around few advent markets in town. Ready to explore traditional craft? How about tasting hot mulled wine fortified with almond schnapps? Have you ever sipped hot blackcurrant wine? And how about local gurmet treats? Rather prefer oysters and champagne? It'll be fun, trust me. Christmas markets are open from 22nd November 2024, so let's reserve date for your tour!

Your feedback

You should be in everyone's books and have a schedule full for two years ahead! Meeting you in Brno over food and drink is like meeting Wayne Gretzky over ice hockey.

Jaromír

You make Brno shine, taste and colour, nobody else has managed to do that.

Erika

In hindsight, I would like to thank you again for a wonderful tour of Brno. It is very refreshing and recharging to meet someone who is doing their job with enthusiasm, passion and is as passionate as you are. You are infectiously full of drive and enthusiasm, it's a pleasure to spend some time with you. Not only did you leave a great impression on our guests, they are surprised by Brno and liked it very much. Thank you.

Jana

Of course, we could see Brno on our own. But this is a completely different level. It's a real experience with you.

Robert

I hope you will soon receive honorary citizenship of Brno for all the good and beautiful things you do for it.

Lenka

What does Brno offer
that Prague does not have?

  • It has a more casual laid-back and warm atmosphere, where you can engage in chats on the street.

  • It's much smaller and within 15 minutes you can walk through the whole centre of Brno.

  • Businesses here are created not for tourists, but for locals who know how to enjoy them.

  • The city has a great sense of humour and the weird is normal here.

  • You can go on many great half or day trips from here. By steamer on the dam, to the Punkva Caves with underground boating in the Moravian Karst, to the protected landscape area of Pálava with its wine region, to the Unesco listed castle and park with a unique minaret in Lednice. I can assist you  with organising such a trip, please don't hesitate to ask for it.
